Jonas Kaufmann

Tenor

World-renowned tenor Jonas Kaufmann has graced the classical music stage since his Metropolitan Opera debut in 2006. His journey began in Saarbrücken, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Milan, leading to international acclaim with performances at iconic venues such as the Lyric Opera Chicago, Paris Opera, Royal Opera House London, La Scala Milan and, among others, Vienna State Opera. Kaufmann's versatility shines as he excels in Italian, French, and German repertoires. He has portrayed iconic roles like Verdi's Otello and Massenet's Werther, alongside Wagner's Lohengrin.

His expertise extends to lieder singing, which he considers the "royal class of singing." Collaborating with pianist Helmut Deutsch, Kaufmann's mastery of diverse vocal styles and languages sets him apart. Notably, he has been awarded a Gramophone Award as well as the title of "Singer of the Year" multiple times by prestigious magazines, as well as juries of the International Opera Awards and Opus Klassik. Kaufmann's multifaceted career continues to flourish with compelling projects and performances worldwide.


Sondra Radvanovsky

Soprano

Sondra Radvanovsky is regarded as one of the finest living Verdi sopranos known for her extraordinary vocal depth, versatility, and dramatic acting ability. She has shone in leading roles worldwide, from La Scala to the Metropolitan Opera.

In the 2023/2024 season, she will be dazzling audiences at the Royal Opera House, Paris Opera, Teatro di San Carlo, and Deutsche Oper Berlin, among others.

Beginning her training at the Metropolitan Opera in the late 1990s in the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, she caught the attention of critics in Les Contes d’Hoffmann and was singled out as a soprano to watch. Since then, Radvanovsky has performed in every major opera house in the world, including the Royal Opera House, Teatro alla Scala, the Met, and Opernhaus Zürich, among others.


Marco Armiliato

Director

Marco Armiliato is a renowned conductor with a prestigious career. He has performed at some of the world's most esteemed theatres and regularly collaborates with prestigious institutions such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Paris Opera, and the Vienna State Opera, where he holds the title of 'Ehrenmitglied der Wiener Staatsoper' (Honorary Member).

Armiliato's career took off in 1995 when he debuted at the Wiener Staatsoper with Giordano's "Andrea Chénier." Since then, he has conducted in various prominent theatres and festivals worldwide, working with legendary artists and more recent talents, and even received a Grammy Award for his CD "Verismo" with notable artists.

In 2022, he was appointed Music Director of the Arena Opera Festival, where he conducted several operas. His recent engagements include performances in prestigious venues like La Scala in Milan, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and Vienna.


Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands (OSIB)

Founded in 1988, the OSIB has become one of Spain's symphonic benchmarks. Currently under the direction of maestro Pablo Mielgo, over the last 25 years, the OSIB has accompanied international soloists such as Juan Diego Flórez, Frank Peter Zimmermann, Emmanuel Pahud or Khatia Buniatishvili. The OSIB has travelled abroad for performances in Zurich with mezzo Kate Lindsey, the concert at Radio Hall France in Paris with Kathia Buniatishvili, and the concert at the Civilization Rooms of the UN Palace of Nations in Geneva.

Receiving the Balearic Islands’ Gold Medal in 2020, one of the OSIB's main objectives is to showcase the works of local composers. Working with a label that allows them to distribute their recordings across more than40 musical platforms, the OSIB displays the talent and international scope of the Balearic Islands, as well as their commitment to supporting culture as an essential element for the future of the region.

The Coro Festival Cap Rocat is a symbol of unity, diversity and cultural transcendence. This initiative not only promises to leave an indelible mark on the current cultural scene, but also serves as a testimony to the cultural richness of the island and represents a pillar in the preservation and promotion of artistic heritage for future generations.

Maestro Joan Company has launched an extraordinary initiative with the creation of a special choir for the Festival, marking a new milestone in the promotion of the island's cultural heritage. This innovative proposal opens the doors to a wide range of talents, from passionate amateurs to renowned professionals, giving them the unique opportunity to share the stage with some of the most outstanding artists of our time.


Director Coro

Joan Company

Joan Company, a prominent choral conductor from Sant Joan, Mallorca, has conducted major choirs and orchestras in Spain and Europe, including the Coro Nacional de España and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia.

Founder of the Coral Universitat de les Illes Balears, he has promoted training, research and dissemination of choral music for over 46 years, winning awards in international competitions and festivals.

He has also collaborated with renowned conductors and orchestras, and has published numerous studies on music. His awards include the Ramon Llull Rotary Prize and the Ramon Llull Medal of the UIB. In 2022, he was appointed Chapel Master of the Cathedral of Mallorca.

Mikhail Pletnev

Pianist

Pianist, conductor, composer and cultural leader - these are some of the most significant facets of the extraordinary life of Mikhail Pletnev, one of the most respected and influential artists of his time. His prodigious talent as a pianist brought him widespread recognition when he won the First Prize at the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition at the age of 21. Since then, besides inspiring audiences from all corners of the globe, his career led him to forming the Russian National Orchestra in 1990 and founding the International Rachmaninoff Orchestra.
With outstanding performances and recordings as both pianist and conductor, he has won numerous awards, including a Grammy in 2005 for his arrangement of Prokofiev's Cinderella, a Gramophone in 1996 for his acclaimed album of Scarlatti Sonatas, along with being named "Best of 2007" by the NewYorker for his recording of Beethoven's symphonies and piano concertos.

Lisette Oropesa

Soprano

The acclaimed soprano Lisette Oropesa is celebrated for her lead roles at renowned opera houses worldwide. Her remarkable career includes standout performances as Violetta in "La Traviata", Gilda in "Rigoletto," and Massenet's "Manon" at the Metropolitan Opera, as well as numerous other iconic roles at Teatro alla Scala, Wiener Staatsoper, and Bayerische Staatsoper, among others.

In the U.S., she's captivated audiences at notable theatres, and her accolades include the Beverly Sills and Richard Tucker awards. Notably, she received the prestigious "Franco Abbiati" award from Italy's National Music Critics Association in 2023. Her album "French Bel Canto Arias" has garnered critical acclaim and continues to excel in the operatic classical music charts.


Pablo Mielgo

Director

With a mission to make music accessible to all, Pablo Mielgo regularly conducts on stages such as the Wiener Musikverein in Vienna, Carnegie Hall in New York and many others in Latin America and the Middle East. The Madrid-born conductor, Artistic and Music Director of the Orquesta Simfònica de les Illes Balears (OSIB) and the Symphony Orchestra of the Americas (SOTA), has driven the development of both ensembles based on his extensive international experience.

Mielgo has worked with orchestras such as the Simón Bolívar Symphony, the Arena di Verona and the Qatar Philharmonic, as well as collaborating with institutions such as the Teatro Real in Madrid, the New World Symphony in Miami, the National Ballet of Spain and the Orchestra of China, among others.

Artistic Director

Ilias Tzempetonidis

Greek artistic director Ilias Tzempetonidis began his career in 1996 working with the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. Since then, he has become one of the most prestigious and influential personalities on the international operatic scene, fostering the careers of some of today's most famous classical singers.

Tzempetonidis has been Director of Artistic Planning and Casting at the Greek National Opera in Athens, Director of Casting at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and Director of Casting at the Opéra National de Paris. He has also regularly participated as a jury member in prominent international competitions, always motivated by his eagerness to help develop and nurture the next generation of leading artists. In addition, Tzempetonidis is artistic advisor to the Tiroler Festspiele in Austria, a festival conducted by Jonas Kaufmann, and casting advisor to the New York Philharmonic under the musical direction of Gustavo Dudamel. He is also artistic director of the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples and its Accademia per Cantanti Lirici.
